Interim Elkhart Campus Children’s Ministry Director

The vision for River Oaks in Elkhart is to be a financially self-sustaining campus of River Oaks that replicates the philosophy, methodology, doctrine, and values of River Oaks. Our vision is to be a racially and socio-economically diverse campus of River Oaks with the goal of meeting the spiritual and physical needs of our neighbors in the city of Elkhart.

Purpose:
This is a part-time position (10 hrs/wk) to oversee Children’s Ministry at River Oaks in Elkhart. This includes providing leadership to our volunteers in those environments, to position and equip them to partner with parents to transform kids into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ who GO tell their friends about Jesus, GROW with their friends in faith, and SHOW compassion to the poor. Currently, this role has an interim designation because we anticipate the needs of this role will grow in Spring 2023 with the opening of a new, permanent facility. At that time, we will re-evaluate the needs and expectations of this role.

Goshen Campus Children’s Director


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Develops and maintains the Children’s Ministry budget, strategy, and wins.
● Implements and contextualizes (as necessary) the scope and sequence and curriculum developed by the River Oaks in Goshen Children’s Director.
● Oversees the day-to-day operations of Children’s Ministry in accordance with River Oaks’ ministry processes and standards.
● Oversees all volunteer recruitment and training.
● Provides high-quality and safe childcare as requested for special events.
● Ensures all environments are prepared with excellence and ready for events.
● Implements Children’s ministry events.
● Ensures Children’s Ministries Policies and Procedures are kept up to date and adhered to.
● Follows up with all volunteers who do not follow procedure.
● Directly addresses disciplinary issues with children as needed.
● Directly addresses all children injury reports.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

● Knowledge of childhood development to best meet kids’ needs in weekly lesson development and
environment creation.
● Strong spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ and lives a Godly lifestyle.
● A loyal team player who is committed to the mission, values, and vision of River Oaks.
● Makes a positive contribution to staff culture that embodies the River Oaks’ Cultural Standards.
● Experience in volunteer coordination, development, and empowerment.
● Possesses a high level of initiative and ability to work independently, performing duties with minimal direction and supervision.

OTHER SPECIFICATIONS

Work Schedule: To be discussed. These hours will include Sunday mornings and occasional evening or weekend responsibilities.

Working Conditions:
Due to seasonal activity, job duties may occasionally require additional hours and availability outside normal hours. May require flexibility to adjust work schedule from time to time.
